Some Ultimate Scream cards immediately attract attention because of their ratings or famous names. Ivan Perišić is different.
His new 86-rated card doesn't have extraordinary Pace or Dribbling, but look at everything else: 85 Shooting, 87 Passing, 72 Defending, 81 Physical, four-star Skill Moves and a five-star Weak Foot.
And then there are the PlayStyles.
For me, Perišić is one of the most interesting midfield cards in Ultimate Scream Team 2. He has the tools to become an excellent CAM or an attacking CM, although there's one major problem that could stop many players from using him: Chemistry.
Why Perišić Looks Better Than His 86 Rating
Perišić's biggest strength is how well-rounded his attacking attributes are.
His 82 Pace isn't exceptional, but it should be sufficient for a central creative role where positioning and passing matter more than constantly sprinting behind defenders.
Shooting is another interesting part of the card. He has 90 Shot Power, 88 Attacking Positioning and 84 Long Shots. Add a five-star Weak Foot, and he has the attributes to become a threat from either side of the penalty area.
The Dribbling is where I have some doubts.
84 overall sounds perfectly reasonable, especially alongside 88 Ball Control and 90 Composure. However, 75 Balance is a genuine concern, particularly when turning under pressure.
I wouldn't expect Perišić to move like a small, explosive CAM.
What makes him interesting is that he doesn't necessarily need to.
His PlayStyles Are the Real Selling Point
This is where the card starts looking much stronger.
Perišić has five regular PlayStyles that are particularly useful for attacking football:
Incisive Pass: Helps with through balls and passes into dangerous attacking spaces.
Pinged Pass: Makes quick, powerful passes more effective, particularly through crowded central areas.
Tiki Taka: Supports rapid short-passing combinations.
Technical: Gives him an additional tool when carrying the ball and controlling possession.
Gamechanger: Adds unconventional finishing options and creative shooting ability.
For me, the combination of Incisive Pass, Pinged Pass and Tiki Taka is the biggest attraction.
These are exactly the tools I want from a central midfielder who needs to connect defence and attack.
Instead of relying entirely on individual dribbling, Perišić can move the ball quickly, find runners and maintain possession in tight spaces.
Gamechanger also gives him an additional attacking dimension, especially alongside 85 Shooting and his five-star Weak Foot.
There is no PlayStyle+ here, which is worth remembering. But the regular PlayStyle selection is still unusually useful for an 86-rated card.
Best Position: CAM in 4-2-1-3 or CM in 4-3-1-2?
I see two particularly good ways to use Perišić.
CAM in 4-2-1-3
This is probably where I'd try him first.
In a 4-2-1-3, the CAM needs to connect the two deeper midfielders with the attacking three.
Perišić has the passing tools to do exactly that.
Incisive Pass helps him find forwards making runs, while Pinged Pass and Tiki Taka allow quick combinations around the edge of the box.
His five-star Weak Foot is particularly useful here. You don't have to constantly adjust his body position before playing an important pass or taking a shot.
The limitation is his agility.
If you rely heavily on sharp turns, skill moves and constant dribbling in crowded areas, a smaller CAM might suit you better.
But if your CAM is primarily a playmaker who also contributes goals, Perišić looks like a very reasonable choice.
CM in 4-3-1-2
This might actually be his most balanced role.
In a 4-3-1-2, I would use him as one of the outside central midfielders, preferably on the left.
He has enough attacking quality to contribute going forward, while 72 Defending and 81 Physical make him more versatile than a typical attacking midfielder.
His 87 Stamina is another important advantage.
Outside CMs need to cover plenty of ground, support attacks and help protect the midfield when possession is lost.
Perišić has the attributes to contribute in all three phases.
He isn't a dedicated defensive midfielder, and I wouldn't use him as the main ball-winner. But as an attacking CM alongside a more defensive player, he looks like an excellent fit.
Best Chemistry Style for Ultimate Scream Perišić – Engine
Engine is my preferred Chemistry Style for Perišić, and the numbers explain why.
But the biggest improvement isn't immediately obvious from those numbers.
Balance increases from 75 to 81, which addresses one of my main concerns about this card. Agility also improves from 80 to 83.
There are several useful passing improvements too:
• Short Passing: 87 → 90
• Crossing: 91 → 97
• Vision: 85 → 88
• Curve: 88 → 94
For a CAM in 4-2-1-3 or an attacking CM in 4-3-1-2, that's exactly the kind of boost I want.
Perišić already has Incisive Pass, Pinged Pass and Tiki Taka. Engine makes his passing attributes even more impressive while giving him additional mobility.
The 81 Balance is particularly important, although I wouldn't expect the card to suddenly feel like a small, explosive dribbler. His body type still matters.
What about Hunter?
Hunter remains an alternative if you want to use Perišić as a more goal-focused CAM, prioritising Pace and Shooting.
However, I would choose Engine first. It addresses more of the card's weaknesses without sacrificing what makes him interesting: his passing, versatility and five-star Weak Foot.
The Biggest Problem: Chemistry
Unfortunately, this is where things get complicated.
Perišić plays for PSV in the Eredivisie and represents Croatia.
Neither is particularly convenient if your squad is built mainly around the Premier League, LaLiga or Serie A.
And unlike his attributes, this isn't something a Chemistry Style can fix.
Getting him onto full Chemistry might require changing other positions, using additional league links or choosing a suitable manager.
That can make a relatively affordable card much more expensive to accommodate than its market price initially suggests.
I wouldn't sacrifice Chemistry across several starting players just to fit Perišić into the squad.
If you already have useful Croatian or Eredivisie links, though, the situation becomes much more attractive.
Is Ultimate Scream Perišić Worth the Coins?
At around 50–65K coins in the early market listings, Perišić looks like a potentially excellent value option.
You get a versatile creative midfielder with strong Passing, useful Shooting, five-star Weak Foot and several PlayStyles that fit the current gameplay.
But I wouldn't recommend him to everyone.
Choose Perišić if you need a passing-focused CAM or attacking CM, prefer quick combinations over constant skill moves, and can fit him into your squad without major Chemistry sacrifices.
Skip him if you want an exceptionally agile CAM, need a defensive specialist or would have to rebuild half your team to accommodate him.
Personally, I prefer his profile as a CM in 4-3-1-2, although the CAM role in 4-2-1-3 is equally interesting for players who rely on quick passing and late attacking runs.
I haven't tested the card in matches yet, so this recommendation is based on his confirmed attributes, PlayStyles and possible roles rather than a hands-on gameplay verdict.
My early verdict: Perišić could be one of the best-value midfielders in Ultimate Scream Team 2, but Chemistry will decide whether he's actually worth buying for your squad.
